Welcome to the Gamers' Press! You may remember us from the old days - a small band of editors and writers who waxed philosophical about games, wrote reviews and walkthroughs, and generally had a good time.
Now, with the power of modern technology, the dream of The Gamers' Press has come true. This web page is a wiki, which means that all registered users can edit the pages. Add your gaming knowledge to our own in a great collective of all things gaming (or just fun stuff in general)!

[edit] News--PSPSX 25 January 2009 7:31 (EST) PSP Apps that allow you to stream live TV or download songs directly to your PSP. Download and Installation Guide at PSP Apps
--John Hummel 19 March 2008 19:14 (MST) If you haven't heard, firmware 3.93 is out. If you have the updated 3.71 firmware from Dark Alex, you can just upgrade over the net. If not - well, time for a new set of instructions, then. We'll get to work on that soon! --GamerbyDesign 1 October 2007 3:56 (EST) Firmware version 3.71 is out along with the 1.50 firmware subset addon. Check it out at http://www.psp-hacks.com --John Hummel 2 July 2007 17:16 (MST) Good news and bad news. The bad news is that Dark Alex will no longer be working on custom firmwares. His hard work was a credit, and it would be nice if you all dropped him a thank you note. The good news is Resident Evil 4 is made of 100% awesome. --John Hummel 19 April 2007 17:07 (MST) Well, once again there's a new version of the Dark Alex firmware, so the PSX on PSP guide has been updated with the 3.30 OE-A Install Guide! Make sure you check out the PSX on PSP Compatibility List to see what works better, and the Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition for the PSP page - just because it looks cool. --John Hummel 4 April 2007 12:32 (MST) The newest part of the Zelda Twilight Princess walkthrough is up with * Every Village Has a Troublemaker. Just in case you didn't know what it teaches you. Or - something. --John Hummel 29 March 2007 19:20 (MST) Luckily classes don't start yet, so I was able to bring in the next section of the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Walkthrough with Every Friendship Starts with a Meeting. --John Hummel 29 March 2007 03:41 (MST) I'm not sure how it happened, but I put everything into the Metroid_Prime_Walkthrough_by_John_Hummel - except for the last mission, how to beat Metroid Prime! Well, now it's there. Oddly, nobody complained, so maybe you just didn't notice. Which is scary, when you stop to think about it.
You may have heard that Sony has released a new firmware for the PSP, upgrading it to 3.30. Personally, I'd wait a little bit before upgrading, at least if you still want to be able to use your PSP for playing Playstation One games on it. If and when there is a custom firmware that will allow your, uh, custom PSX on PSP games that includes the abilities of the 3.30 firmware, we'll be sure to know. (Of course, if that does happen, you'll be sure to let me know as well, right? Thanks.) --John Hummel 28 March 2007 19:21 (MST) The in-laws are at my house. For solace, I decided to bring out the second chapter of the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Walkthrough by John Hummel with Every Trip Starts with a Snag --John Hummel 24 March 2007 14:30 (MST) Another new project? Why not! We now have the first part of our Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Walkthrough by John Hummel. --John Hummel 16 March 2007 18:09 (MST) The newest update to the Suikoden_II_Backtracking_by_John_Hummel is now available with From Riches to Rags. Now I'm going to go play with trains! --John Hummel 13 March 2007 16:27 (MST) Because I can't watch the site all of the time, I'm looking for people who want to become sysops - you'll have the power to ban people, to protect/unprotect pages, and generally have powers over life and death. OK - not the latter. But if you're interested, drop me a line! --John Hummel 11 March 2007 08:28 (MST) And it's done - the last two parts of the Final_Fantasy_XII_Walkthrough is complete! I'm taking a nap. --John Hummel 9 February 2007 09:27 (MST) Once again, Dark Alex has updated the custom firmware, this time up to 3.10. So get your dancing shoes on - it's time to upgrade in our PSX_on_PSP guide. --John Hummel 2 February 2007 04:29 (MST) We are now looking for some news editors - people who can report in what's going on out there in the Intertubes we call the Net. If you're interested, drop me a line. --John Hummel 31 January 2007 16:35 (MST) I just wanted to give a big shout out to LordAlan, who's been putting some sweet updates into the Chrono Trigger Walkthrough, filling in the bits I was too lazy to do. Thank you, my liege! --John Hummel 30 January 2007 18:59 (MST) You want updates, you got updates. And if you didn't want them - uh, you got them anyway. More updates on the infamous PSX on PSP compatibility list - now with links to handy manuals you can add to your game (huh - I'll have to see if it's got Suikoden II - hey, it does!). Speaking of Suikoden II, the latest chapter in the Suikoden II Backtracking is up! This time, we're taking a look at what happens to prisoners - and how sexy a cloud can be. Check it out in Chapter 02: Doing Hard Time. --John Hummel 25 January 2007 16:11 (MST) One small update, one larger update. First there's new updates to the PSX_on_PSP_Compatibility_List - more games have been added, so if you're interested in running your Playstation games on your PSP but aren't sure if it's worth the time, effort, hard drive space - check the list. Also, as if I'm not busy enough, how about a new project? A new Category:Backtracking feature, this time taking a modern look at the old Playstation classic, Suikoden II with Suikoden II Backtracking by John Hummel. The sweet, sweet story of two men in a time of war, and all they want is a pizza. OK, maybe not, but it starts with a bang. But no pizza. --John Hummel 12 January 2007 05:34 (MST) Another blast from the past - I found my old Metroid Prime Walkthrough by John Hummel! So, if you're stuck on a nearly 5 year old game, well, here's a guide for it. You're welcome! --John Hummel 11 January 2007 17:39 (MST) One of the pieces that I'm rather proud of, a new article that was written a few years back, the Xenogears Backtracking. This is where someone (in this case, me) plays a classic game for the first time ever. This time, it was Xenogears, a game considered a classic role playing experience. The question is: will a person who plays it in the modern "next gen" era still find it enjoyable? Read on to find out! Main Page Archives |
