Walkthrough is complete.

March 18, 2001 1020 MST

Started work on the walkthrough. Gameplay had been completed, and all of the endings mapped (if not played through). The plan is to finish all the endings so we can report on any other extras involved in the game.

Today is a good day to die

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Or, in this case, a city in Europe (which, based on the name, leads me to believe its somewhere in Germany, but I could be wrong. Like I know anything about Germany other than its somewhere in Europe. And beer, if I drank that pee-colored water).

And within this city is an ordinary make named Eike. He's travelling through the city, admiring that artwork in the local museum, checking out the buildings that date back several centuries, and generally just being an unassuming tourist. No cares in the world, nothing more urgent than the fact that he's about to be murdered at 0230.

Yes, murdered. Dead. Kick the bucket. Buy the farm. Dance with the Reaper. It's already happened, so there's no getting out of it. And the fact that he's been murdered, for reasons that he doesn't understand, doesn't make it any better.

Or is there? You see, Eike has a powerful ally, who gives him a powerful gift: to travel back and forth in time to prevent his own murder. And since Eike doesn't want to die (who does, really, except for suicidal people, but since Eike isn't one of them, who gives a crap?), he's ready to take advantage of the situation. Which would be all right, except for one small detail.

You're suppose to help him out. And what do you know about time travel, Eurpean cities, or attractive women in the 1500's? Don't worry. The Gamer's Press has you covered, partially because we don't have anything better to do, and partially because we figure there's some monetary incentive involved in giving you a place to find out all your answers. And if that's not good enough, we've got lots of pictures of Eike (for you ladies), Margarete (for you guys), and Mr. Eckart (for those of you just like to look at slightly overweight, balding men).

So lets start off on an adventure that spans over 600 years of history. Or about 10 hours of your time. Whatever.

Tips

Stayin' Alive, Stayin' Alive, Oh, oh, oh, oh...

For those of you who have played Adventure games before, this might seem like an old hat. But since Shadow of Destiny is just a little bit different, what with all the time shifting and all, so you might want some general pointers.

Time Always Marches On

Just because you can travel back in time, doesn't mean you can avoid your fate. While you're back in the past, you'll see two clocks - one for the time you're currently in, one for the Present. When the clock in the Present reaches the point you are appointed to die, that's it - you're dead anyway. That means that you've got to "root out the source" of your upcoming death before the time in the Present runs out.

There is one exception to this rule, and not in your favor. Whenever your time is about to run out, you'll hear the gigantic ticking of a clock. There's one time when you have prevented your death, you'll hear the ticking of the clock telling you to return to the present. If you don't, you will die. I'll point this out later on in the walkthrough, but just keep your ears open.

Everybody's got something to say

Like other adventure games, you'll want to talk to everybody and see what they've got to say to you. To be honest, 9 times out of 10, it will be worthless information. But sometimes somebody will say something useful, or interesting, or sometimes just downright funny. So talk to everybody, and keep talking to them until they repeat themselves (and you can use the O button to skip their worthless comments at that point).

Keep charged

Littered throughout your travels, you'll see little glowing green balls. Grab them to charge up the Digipad. There's a few times when you'll want to travel in time to multiple locations within a short amount of time (did that make any sense?), and you don't want to waste time running around time trying to charge up your Digipad just so you can see how Margarete is making out with those new bath soaps you gave her. (Then again, she also looks like the only person in the year 1580 who remembers to bath...).

Wow...look at those shiny blue lights

As you're running around trying not to get dead, you might also see some items highlighted with a small blue ball. These are items you can pick up and keep with you. Amazingly, Eike seems to have an Personal Pocket Dimension, so that he can put anything of any size (from ladders to books to a Motel 6 into his pants. Well, if he saw what he stored in my pants he'd be impressed.

Prologue

And I Hate Everything About You

I'm happy. Really.
I'm happy. Really.

Here's Eike. I'm sure he's going down the street, singing a song in his head. Let's sing along with him, hm? "...And whiskers on kittens...these are a few of my favorite things..." The sun is shining, and there's a shadow chasing after him.

Whoops. He's dead. And now the adventure of an, um, afterlifetime, begins.

Step-By-Step

When you get control, walk over to the Digipad there on the floor. (You can't miss it - its glowing). Wait until your unknown friend is done talking, then tell him that you get it.

There are some rules to this. When you go back in time, the present is still moving forward. If you don't prevent your own death in the present before time runs out, then you'll die again - even if you're in the past, because the source of your murder hasn't been stopped.

There's one more rule I should mention, because our host does not. You cannot interact with yourself. Don't try to find and touch yourself (um...), or talk to yourself. Now, there are exceptions to this rule, but don't try and break them. If you do, you're dead - permamently.

Now that you've got the Digipad and you know how to use it, turn around and head for the door.

04/08/2001 2:00 PM

I'm feeling much, much better now. Come just a little closer...
I'm feeling much, much better now. Come just a little closer...

This isn't a bad way to wake up. Hey, who's the waitress? I think she kind of likes our Eike. Once you're done, Eike goes outside. (And it looks like you can't go back in). You now have 30 minutes until you're dead.

Let's not waste time. You need to confide in somebody, but who would believe stories about a time traveling dead man? (Well, other than a Star Trek convention). For the heck of it, hit the ^ (that's a triangle, honest!) button. You'll get a map of the city. See the spot that says "Former Alchemist House"? Head that way.

When you approach the Former Alchemist House, Eike discovers the real purpose of the home. Fortune teller. Wow, the Psycic Friends Network! You'll go inside, and make a new friend. Eike seems to have an odd choice in companions - first a disembodied voice, now a fortune teller with a disembodied voice.

Hey, she knows you're going to die at 2:30! Well, that's handy. Of course, we already know that. But she has some useful advice - don't be alone. That, and if you survive past 2:30, you can visit her, and she'll give you more to work with.

Don't be alone - hm. Once that's over, your Digipad will start to glow. Go outside the Gypsy's place. Hey, what's that glowing green thing? Go on over and pick it up. This is an Energy Unit. See the bar in the upper right hand side? That's your Energy Meter. Every dot is another chance for you to travel in time. Keep it as full as possible (don't worry - Energy Units refresh themselves every time you travel through time) so you don't have to waste time (literally).

Now its time to activate the Digipad. Hit the [] button, and select to go back to 1:30 PM. Once you make the selection, you'll head on back.

New thing to notice - now there's two times in the upper right hand corner. The number at the top is the Present off in the future, while the bottom number is the time you're currently in. Remember, if the time in the Present hits the moment you are suppose to die, its over. (Well, not really - you'll get chided by your unseen host, but why waste time?)

So, you've got 1/2 hour to take care of things. And here's another tip - every time you talk to somebody, its takes up a little more time. So if you talk to somebody on the street, it will take 30 seconds of your time.

So let's find some folks. Ignore the lady with the flower in her hair, and the lady in sunglasses. Head back toward the Former Alchemist's House. There's an old lady walking around. Talk to her, then walk around the block, looking for a little girl, and her mother. (Ignore the guy in the trenchcoat - you can't help him either).

Once you talk to these folks, your Digipad will start to glow again. There's nothing else you can do here, so let's go back to the Present. Since there's people all heading to the square, let's go that way.

The Present

He's still back there! Made you look!
He's still back there! Made you look!

Wow, a juggler. How fun is that? Let's go check him out. Get close enough, and you'll join the crowd - and a murder will be avoided.

Chapter I

And so we dance...into the fire

I think she gets her candles at Cosco.
I think she gets her candles at Cosco.

So far, so good. Well, if you define "good" as being: a state of probable murder by an unknown person that you cannot avoid throughout the day unless you use the power of time travel (but you can't do anything cool with time travel, like go back in time and get a video of the Kennedy Assasination then sell it for a billion dollars).

Then again, preventing your own murder is probably cool enough.

Step-By-Step

All right, we've survived one assassination attempt. (Well, not really - but you know what I mean). Eike heads back to the Fortune Teller to learn what happens next. Talk to her. Bummer - you're still going to die.

Head back outside. Do you smell smoke? Well, since this is a computer game, I guess not. But check your map, and head out to the Bar Zum El. Woah, a fire!

Talk to the kid crying on the ground. Now, before you get all hero on us, tell him it's too dangerous. Turn around and head towards the Square. Hey, the Juggler is still there. Go up to him. He'll drop the a ball, then give you a note about...getting a thick iron plate? Huh?

Turn around and head back to the fire. Talk to the blonde kid again, and this time agree to go in and help his grandpa. And now, for the adventures of Wonder Eike, the Man who...dies again. Ah, well.

The mysterious voice sends you back, and gives you some obvious advice. Stop the fire before it starts. Thanks, Mr. Disembodied voice.

When you get back to the fire, you could run around for no reason - or use your activated Digipad to go back in time to 2:00 PM. (I'd do the latter). And there's an Energy Unit in the middle of the floor should you need it.

2:00 PM

This is pretty simple. Head back to the Bar, then go around to the back. You'll see some burning papers, but as you try to put them out, whoever was just there vanishes into thin air. What's the deal here?

Well, at least you're not dead. Go back to the present, and the fire will vanish as if it never was (which, technically, it didn't). Save your game, and move onto Chapter 2.

Chapter II

Updates

I got in this note from a good friend who had this observation about the conversation between Eike and Dana:
This would just be for the perfectionists out there, but in chapter 2,in addition to Dana saying some things before you're killed, has a total ofthree or four different conversations with Eike after he dies (Cool, huh?). Just thought you would be interested in knowing that. And yes, I do have toomuch time on my hands. Jared Voshall

Big thanks for the info, Voshall!

Me and my lollypop tree

Yes. Yes I did. And I forgot my phone number. Can I have yours?
Yes. Yes I did. And I forgot my phone number. Can I have yours?

So far, the score is Eike 2, Anonymous Murderer, 0. All right, so he did kill us twice, but we changed that, right?

Before you start to celebrate, hotshot, go to the bathroom. Aw, come on. I'm sure you've got to go potty by now. Go ahead.

Step-By-Step

Hey, its the waitress from the Cafe. I knew she liked Eike. Oh. She just thinks he lost something. A red stone? Nope, not ours. But hey, at least the lighter is ours.

And just as Eike is making some progress with our very attractive and helpful friend - he's killed. Again. So let's take stock. Waitress - good. Waitress - cute. Killer - hiding in a tree.

Well, let's go on back to the square. Meet Dana again, and this time, before Eike can play Fly Boy and the murderer uses your head for target practice, use the Digipad and go back in time. It's taking you back to the 1580's. Huh? What could be all the way back there?

11/18/1580 07:00 PM

Um, nothing. Nothing at all.
Um, nothing. Nothing at all.

Oh, dear. The waitress has come back in time with you. And it looks like she's missing. Bummer. And there's evil old women picking on...hello! Well, who's this attractive young lady? And it looks like she's in trouble. How do we help her?

Easy enough. Everybody knows that people in the year 1580 (except for pretty girls who wear dresses they like) are afraid of one of three things: people who can read, lighters, and cell phones. Since we didn't bring a book, pull out the lighter or cell phone (I thought the cell phone was funnier). The crowd runs out, and Margarete, our new friend, invites you back to her house. (Score!)

If you want to, follow her back. Hey, she lives in the Alchemist's House. Meet the family, then leave. You could go looking for Dana the waitress, but trust me - you can't find her. So instead let's see what we can do back here in the past to fix our problem.

Head back to the square. In the center is a guy planting a tree. Talk to him. Hey, he's planting...a tree. Wait a second. Wasn't the killer hiding in the tree? So if we kill the tree here in the past...

Problem is, this guy isn't interested in listening to your problems. So we need to find someone who can. Check your map (good thing you got that old postcard, isn't it?) Leave here, and head towards the Antique Shop Eule (which is a Butcher back in the 1580). Check out the buildings until you find a ladder. (Amazing. Eike can hold an entire ladder in his pants. Dang, makes you wonder what else he can make fit down there?)

If you talk to the folks around the area (or save time and don't), you'll learn the gardener planting in the tree will only take orders from the Squire. So let's head towards the Squire - he's to the south. Dang, the door's locked.

Talk to that young punk hanging out by the door. Hey, he's got the key. Mug him! No, just kidding. He wants something in exchange for the key. Luckily, he'll take the postcard you're carrying. Cool.

Hold up. What is the idea with that? Some guy in the 1580's will give you the key to the Squire's manor, the most important man in the city, for a picture of that city? What kind of a freak is that guy?

Now use the key to get through the door.

Nice place the Squire has. Too bad that seal looks so unstable. Use the ladder on the manor. Eike will climb up and get himself the seal. Hey, I know somebody who needs the Squire's seal to do anything. Go back to the guy in the Square and use the Seal on him. Eike tells him a big lie (gonna go to Hell...). It doesn't matter if you choose a statue or flowers - either one works.

The Present

With that done, go back to the present. Good news: you're alive. Bad news: you've lost Dana. Man, you are in so much trouble when her dad finds out.

Chapter III

And his face was on every vase

Now what? Can't a guy take a stroll in a small European town without getting stabbed, burnt, shot, or having vases dropped on your head?

Well, I guess not.

Step-By-Step

All right, let's figure out what's happening. But before you get the chance, you get a call from Mr. Eckhert, a nice man who works at the Museaum. You were suppose to meet him (what, you think getting killed means you don't have to go to your appointments?).
Say, want to go get killed later this afternoon?
Say, want to go get killed later this afternoon?

Go south towards the Museum. Go on inside, and wander about (check out the paintings while you do so - man, there's a lot of work by Karl Franssen) until you find the stairs. Go up, and take the first door, and you'll find Mr. Eckhart.

Chat for a bit, and he'll give you a book. Dr. Wagner...something about that sounds familiar. Look around first, then go back downstairs.

Agghh! Who the heck is this guy? Homunculus? Sure, whatever. Ask him for a demonstration of his power (really - you want to), and he'll send you back to 1980. And leaves you without any Energy for the Digipad. (You could choose "Excuse me", but it has fatal results).

10/09/1979 6:30 PM

This is a short and sweet section. First, some weird guy in glasses sees you Time Travel into the area. Then, a much younger Mr. Eckhart comes out, yelling about his wife and daughter. He seemed like such a major cat guy in the present.

Once you have control, you'll need to get some Energy Units. You'll find one far on the north side of town.
Yes, you are prettier than Boy George.
Yes, you are prettier than Boy George.

There doesn't seem to be anything else to do here, and the Digipad is blinking. Go back to the present, where Homunculus waits. Go and talk to Mr. Eckhart again. When Eike asks him about his wife and daughter, he learns the sad truth - and a vase breaks. The one that used to have Eike's name on it.

Chapter IV

I saw the sign, and it opened up my eyes

I'll be honest and say that I don't have anything witty to say here. Oh, all right. All your base -

No, I'm not going to sink to that level.

Step-By-Step

Before you even get a chance to react - dead again. Dang. Homunculus gives you new advice, to get an iron plate. Hey, where did we see that before? When you return to life, you'll see a picture inside your book of alchemy with a family and...a juggler?

As soon as you have control, run around town and recharge your Digipad. Your next target is back in 1902. Well, may as well try it out. Go on back.

03/20/1902 10:04 AM

Really. So how long has the male pattern baldness been in the family?
Really. So how long has the male pattern baldness been in the family?

The world has gone black and white (no, not the game Black and White, just the colors). Head up to the Museum, and you'll meet Mr. Alfred. Wow, these guys have been here for awhile. And thanks to you, the Museaum will be built. Good thing you were here, huh?

After being invited to the house, you'll meet his daughter, Sibylla.

Hold up. Let me just pipe in here. I think Sibylla's a cute kid - she seems pretty bright, she's responsible, and just so cute you want to pinch those cheeks off her face. But what kind of a name is Sibylla? Man, her parents must have been high when they thought up that name.

Once the movie over, you'll want to run an errand. If you check your map, you'll find a photo shop. Head out there, and steal his sign. There's your metal plate (obviously made back in a time when signs had to be made of thick, heavy metal to discourage thieves. I guess it didn't work on Eike).

This part is somewhat optional, if you didn't see the Juggler in the Present. Go back to the Alfred's. And you'll get a picture taken! Get dressed for the picture. Afterwards, talk to Sibylla, and you'll get an egg you can write messages in. Go back to the Present and head for the marketplace where you saw the Juggler. Watch yourself show up, get the message - and when you go back to the past, you'll have a frying pan in your coat.

Time to go back to the Present.

Present

You've only got a few seconds. Use your Sign (or Frying Pan) to keep yourself from getting knifed. Hooray for signs!

Chapter V

I want to taste you but your lips are venomous poison

Considering that you haven't eaten in, oh, 500 years, I guess that makes sense.
Considering that you haven't eaten in, oh, 500 years, I guess that makes sense.

All of this dying can make a man hungry. Trust me - after my first near death experience, I woke up so hungry I had to spend two straight days in the Sizzler All-You-Can-Eat Salad Bar. Oddly enough, that was the cause of my second near death experience.

Step-By-Step

Time to eat. Head to the Bar, and once you're inside, you'll get The Special. Trust me, it will be special. So special...you'll die! Bwahahaha!

All right, that was cheesy. But you've been poisened, and you need to find the cure before you croak. But the cure is in the Library. Library? What Library? Sounds like you'll have to change Mr. Alfred's mind.

03/20/1902

This is a multi-part time travel epic. First, go back to the 1900's. Go back up to the Alfred's house, and talk to Mr. Alfred again. Convince him to turn the house into a Library instead of a Museum. Now that you've done that, go back to the Present.

Present

Head into the Library. Go into the white door, and at the end will be a book telling you how to get the cure. And you learn the antidote doesn't exist anymore. Well, doesn't that suck.

Who do we know that would have medicine for a strange and now extinct creature? I'm thinking a trip to the 1580's is in order. Go on back.

08/13/1584 02:15 PM

It's been four years to the folks since you've been here. Go to the Alchemist's house.

Ah, man, this doesn't look good for the Wagner family. House burnt down, and there's a dog in the way that won't move!

Let's start at the beginning. We have to move that stupid dog. Head over to the Butcher's, and the girl (who thinks you're quite a piece of meat yourself) gives you some scraps (that's a way to a man's heart - leftover meat). Now head back to the Alchemist's house and use the scraps on the dog. That's right, move it, Fido.

Enter the house. Looks like somebody needs to redecorate (and grow a body). Grab a key off the floor, then travel back in time again by a few years.

05/24/1582

If you go through the Square, you'll see a sad sight. (Kids). Go back to the Alchemist's house, and head to the Lab Door. You'll meet the father figure of the house, then have a very nice time with Margarete. And maybe you run into a friend (or do you?).
But...we just met!
But...we just met!

At some point, you have a very, very important question to answer. Whether or not Margarete is your ancestor. The question will decide one of the endings (which will cover later under "possible endings" later). For now, decide on what you want to do (originally, I didn't want her to be an ancestor, just because she's a cutie).

Once its over, she'll give you the antidote - and a comb (man, but those 16th Century girls really knew how to show a guy they care).

Before you do anything else, run around town and pick up some Energy Units - you'll want about 4 or 5 before your next mission. Head back to the Present.

Present

Take the medicine (aka the antidote), and you'll be set. Yum - tastes like chicken.

Chapter VI

You Won't Come Back From Dead Man's Curve...

It's actually interesting to see how many ways a man can be killed. So far, Eike's life is like something from Groundhog's Day - only without Bill Murry. Man, I could really go for some Bill Murry right now.

Step-By-Step

The Present

Dead again - this time by a killer car accident. And you've got to get more people there. What, for the dullest sounding movie since Ishtar?

All right, let's take a cue from the time travel device. Back to the '80's? Cool - now we can watch the A-Team!

02/07/1980 02:38 PM

Dude, if I swang that way, I'd be the happiest guy in the world. But I don't.
Dude, if I swang that way, I'd be the happiest guy in the world. But I don't.

When you go back, you'll meet an interesting fellow (who's obviously been doing to many drugs). This part of the game is pretty easy - just help him make a more interesting movie by using the details of your own time travels for inspirations. Select "Something about Time Travel" first, then for the second choice, tell him "To prevent his own death". For the third, just whatever you like. He'll swear you to secrecy, and give you an old fashioned watch. Cool.

You could head back to the present, but hold up. Didn't Eckart say something about his wife and child? Maybe we can help out. Go to the South Gate. When you do, you'll encounter a woman and a baby - and a grisly murder. (Note here: if this is your second time playing, you'll figure out who kidnapped the baby. Interesting, no?)

Let's see if we can prevent that from happening. Go back to 1980 again, and run into the woman. This time, it doesn't matter what you say, but I like how cute the baby looks. All right, we've changed time! We saved Eckart's wife, and -

Dang. Hm. That didn't work. And now people think you had something to do with this. Go back to the Present. And now Homunculus gets to lecture us. Blah, blah, blah, destiny.

Let's give it one more shot. Travel back in time to 1980 again. When you find her, chase after her. Run, Eike, run! Keep close enough, and you'll make the daring save. Good job, Eike. Too bad about that other problem... Now you can go back to the present, where you'll be safe from everything but bad movies.

Chapter VII

The lights up in the clock tower light only the fog

You know, I've decided that the folks in Shadow of Destiny aren't the most intelligent people on the planet. We've got Margarete, who wears whatever she likes in a time when they'd burn people at the stake just for saying "Hey, you ever notice that God spelled backwards is Dog?" There's a barkeep in the 1900's who gives away coffee before telling you you have to pay for it. About the only person with only smarts is Sybilla, but we all know that 8-year-old girls are the most intelligent things in the universe. Next to dolphins.

Step-By-Step

Well, it doesn't look like anybody is here to hurt you. Except for the fact you're stuck inside the tower. Well, may as well go up and see who wants us.

This is important - don't grab that old rope on the floor! Leave it be, and go on up. Hello? Heeeeeelllllllooooooo?

Dang. Dead again. All right, we need to figure something else out. Go back in time again to the night before. Hm - we can't open the door yet so the killer won't know. We need a key. And who do we know that would have a key?

Let's go see Mr. Alfred and friends in the 1900's. Maybe they can help.

1902

Uh-oh - you're coming! I mean, your past self! Go into the living room, and grab the key off the wall. Go up the stairs just to waste enough time. Get back outside, and run over to the tower to unlock it.

Go on upstairs in the tower. Remember that rope in the year 2001? Well, not it's a new rope. Grab it, then travel back to The Night Before.

The Night Before

I knew I shouldn't have put lotion on my hands before grabbing this rope.
I knew I shouldn't have put lotion on my hands before grabbing this rope.

Enter the tower and head up to the top. Use the rope on the rails, and you'll tie it. Now, head back to the present. This time when you reach the top of the tower, quickly run to the rope and use it. Ha! Now we're safe.

Bummer for Eckart, though. If you saved his wife, learn some new things. Well, maybe we can still do something for him later. In the meantime, let's go back out and see...

Dana?

Chapter VIII

She's every woman in the world to me

We're getting close to the end here, folks. But like they always say, it's not over until the folks in the 1500's blows up a building that unleashes a string of time traveling incidences involving a blonde haired man in the year 2001.

Or something like that.

Step-By-Step

This is the longest chapter, but it has the most answers. First, let's go looking for Dana. Remember? Blonde waitress, we left her in the past? (Wait a second - Dana? Where else have we heard that name before?)

Before you do anything, go and talk to Eckhart in his office. It doesn't do anything, but its interesting.

Time travel time. Let's head for the 1500's.

08/03/1584

I know I said I was going to call, but its another 400 years until the phone is invented.
I know I said I was going to call, but its another 400 years until the phone is invented.

Go to the Photo Shop Franssen. You'll meet Dana. Hey, she's alive! She's all right! Now, some things may change depending on what you did earlier. If you told Margarete that she was your ancestor, then this is all you can do for Dana. If you didn't, then you'll have a chance to take Dana to the present with you (more on Endings in just a little bit).

Once that's over, you'll have the red stone. Hm - who else needed a red stone? Why, Dr. Wagner! Go back to his place and give him the stone. He's got plans for it, and decides to get rid of his kids for a bit. Sound good to me.

Go ten days forward in time. Depending on past choices, when you reach the destroyed lab, somethings missing. Hugo? Margarete? I hope they're all right.

Go back to the Present. Time for some answers.

The Present

You get a call from...Hugo? He's done what? With who? For how many cookies? Go meet him in the Square, and learn several things.

Here's where I told you about the different endings. Here it is:

Now, you're probably wondering how to return Dana to the present to get ending E. Here's what you have to do:
  1. Meet Dana in 1584.
  2. Ask her to return with you.
  3. As soon as the conversation is over, go back to the year 2001, and grab the note under the Cafe door.
  4. Go back to 1584, and go to the Town Hall. She'll be standing around the corner. Grab Dana, and return to 2001.
  5. Go do, um, whatever else you want to do.

EX Mode

It's not over 'till its over

You might think that since you've gone through Chapter VIII, you're all done. Well, you're not.

See, it seems that all of your time traveling has made some interesting changes. And one of those is that you've got one extra chance to make things right. And that's what the EX Mode is for. To make things right.

Step-By-Step

Before you can get to the EX Mode, you have to get all the endings. That's A, B, C, D, and E.

Now that you've done that, start a New Game. You'll notice that the Prologue is just a little bit different. And then, out of nowhere, you realize something.

Eike knows what's about to happen. He know what happened before. Or, he will is you do two things:
  1. When you're presented with your first choice (after you're dead), select Am I dead again?
  2. At your next choice, choose Oh, Homunculus.
Now you'll be in the EX Mode. You've been through this part before, so go brab the Digipad, then leave through the door. You wake up again inside the Cafe. Once you get outside, go to the Fortune Teller for a little chat. Then, head into the Square. Hey, the crowd is already there! So you don't have to go look for everybody. Walk up to the Juggler (since we already know who he is...). Now, head over to the Bar. Yup, there's the fire, and there's Hugo sitting on the ground. Talk to him, but refuse the request to go into the fire. Now, head back to the Juggler. This time, the note he gives you has changed. The red stone? Yeah, where is that at?
Oh, sure, those are mine. Yeah...that's right.

Go to the Cafe, and get your lighter and the Red Stone. Now, let's go back to the fire. Speak to Hugo again to get inside.

Here's the fire, but your Digipad isexmode ready to go. And there's only one place it wants to go to - the 1580's.

Go on back, and meet Margarete again. You'll have to use the light or cell phone to bail her out, just like you did before.
The End.

The End.

Now you have two choices. Both really lead to the same ending, but you might want to try both. If you follow Margarete back to her house, that's one ending. If you go back to the Present instead of following her home, you'll get the other. Both endings are pretty good, though I like the "stay in the past" one better.

That's it. You have eluded Fate. And my job here is done. I hope you have enjoyed this walkthrough.
